Passport: Valid for at least 6 months and have a minimum of two blank visa pages.
Flight: Book in advance. If you are using transit stay, do some transit city research, as you can only stay in specified area when transit.
Hotel: There are hotels not allowed to serve international customers, please make sure that you book the right hotel. International hotel groups are easy choice, but you can also find some good local ones on Trip.com.
Internet: SIM, eSIM and pocket Wi-Fi are common choices. If you want use your daily apps like Google/Instagram/Twitter, you'll need a VPN. Apple services can work without issue in China.
Payment Method: Although cash and cards can be used without big issues, you should setup your digital payment app before you go, it is used for everything in China. You should also bring some cash for emergency especially if you are going to the rural areas.
