Apple Maps works perfectly in China, so bring an Apple device if you have one. It integrates with Gaode Maps as its service provider.

Baidu Maps & Gaode Maps

These are local map apps with many features. They are all in Chinese, but you can type place names in pinyin. Metro station names and tourist spots are usually recognized without problems.

Google Maps

Use it with a VPN, but don’t fully trust its route planning. The locations might be shifted, and the information could be outdated. Instead, you can search for places and copy-paste the names into local map apps.
